- For the Dumplings:
- 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
- ⅔ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley optional
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary optional
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper optional
- For Optional Stew Base:
- 4 cups chicken or beef broth
- 2 cups cooked chicken or beef
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 small onion diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Simmer stew base (if using) in a large pot until vegetables are tender.
Mix Bisquick, milk, parsley, thyme, and pepper in a bowl until just combined.
Drop tablespoon-sized batter portions onto simmering stew, spacing evenly.
Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes without lifting the lid.
