Ingredients
  

  • For the Dumplings:
  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley optional
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary optional
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper optional
  • For Optional Stew Base:
  • 4 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 2 cups cooked chicken or beef
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Simmer stew base (if using) in a large pot until vegetables are tender.
  • Mix Bisquick, milk, parsley, thyme, and pepper in a bowl until just combined.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized batter portions onto simmering stew, spacing evenly.
  • Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes without lifting the lid.
  • Serve hot with stew, garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix batter for fluffy dumplings.
  • Keep the lid on to trap steam.
  • Store in the fridge for 3 days or freeze separately.
  • Maintain a gentle simmer to prevent dumplings from breaking.
